HJLite started out as a small business under “Hyunjin Chemical”.
STORY/HISTORY
HJLite was established in 1996 under the initial name HyunJin Chemical, by Sewon Yoon, a polymer chemist.
Our company began as a small chemistry-focused venture.
Sewon was called for by many business partners to develop retro-reflective materials using glass bead technology.
With his expertise in handling nanometer-sized materials, he saw this as an opportunity to take on the challenge of working with micrometer-sized materials.
However, the journey was far from easy as HyunJin Chemical was just a tiny operation run out of a small barn in the countryside. At the time, our production capacity was at just 100 square meters of reflective sheets, which required nearly 18 hours of work each day.
After enduring a painstaking period of research and development, our company was finally able to launch our first products into the European markets.
Over the years, Hyunjin Chemical evolved into HJLite, accumulated with invaluable experience and meeting the strict quality standards and demands of the market.
Now, more than 20 years later, HJLite has become a leader in the industrial retro-reflective materials industry, unmatched in its field.
HJLite products are the most widely used in workwear around the world, protecting and saving countless lives.
1996
2002
The 1st R&D Center was established to accelerate the research and development of reflective tape applied to personal protective equipment, clothing, and sportswear.
2009
Our primary manufacturing plant was established allowing us to actively begin mass production.
2011
We established our first overseas office in Shanghai, China.
2014
We established our first Vietnam plant with an area of 9,668 SQM, to support the production of our antistatic trays.
2019
We further expanded our main manufacturing plant, introducing various equipment to maintain our profound quality.
2020
HJLite proudly introduced our retro-reflective film for vehicle license plates to the domestic market,
following its development and official approval by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
2021
The 2nd R&D Center was established, adding fuel to the growth of our R&D capacity. More than 20% of our employees are contributive members of our R&D team.
2023
Our new sales office was established in Gwanggyo, Gyeonggi-do, where our expanding sales team works on both the domestic and overseas markets.
2024
The 2nd Vietnam plant was established with an area of 22,148 SQM. This plant will be the beginning of HJLite reflective tape being manufactured overseas.
2024
The HJLite headquarters in South Korea now has a total area of 14,003 SQM, from where we export to more than 52 countries based on our unique and differentiated technology.
